Mississippi River Trip: Jamming in Knoxville. . .

Iowa.   

We left Minneapolis with Tshhh on the roof and a 40 mph wind blowing.  Tshhh doesn't like wind - she kept moving around on the roof no matter how hard we lashed her down.  The plan was to make it to Red Rock State Park for a few days of R&R and to plan trip further.  We barely managed to make it because of the frequent stops to readjust the straps and to check how they were working.  The other problem we had was that my trusty Impala didn't really take the straps from the car carrier very well - the bumper is big and plastic and integrated to everything.  We had to stop and to a temporary repair of one of the wheel wells because the straps deformed it a little.  Zip ties and duct tape are two of my favorite tools.  Long story short, we didn't really have a good way to carry Tshhh long distance, so we decided to look at some other options for transporting her.  We have also decided to stay here a couple of days for some exploring.   We'll have to see what happens.
